The Red Bull Ring in Spielberg has a long tradition: the race course was opened as Austria Ring in 1969 and has been the venue of the Grand Prix of Austria every year since then. From 1997 to 2003, the course was known as A1-Ring. Having undergone a longer period of renovation, the course reopened in May 2011. Formula 1 and Moto GP races as well as DTM and ADAC GT Masters competitions are staged on this course every year.
