Helicopter transfer to Merano from Innsbruck over the dolomites

Experience Merano in South Tyrol – a special destination in any season. Combine a helicopter flight across the Alps with a stay in Merano – whether for a day in this beautiful town at the Adige or on your well-deserved holiday.

South Tyrol‘s second-biggest town (after Bolzano) was the Tyrolean state capital for many centuries and has been known especially as spa town since the middle of the 19th century. Empress Sissy of Austria also loved the town’s Mediterranean climate. Merano is situated in 325 m above sea level and has a population of around 37,000. The beautiful spa garden with the Kurhaus is located in the centre of Merano on the Passer River and invites to relaxation. Especially noteworthy are the wonderful floral arrangements along the spa promenade where concerts take place on a regular basis.

Stroll through the arcades of the Old Town and browse through shops and boutiques. Enjoy the town’s atmosphere in one of the cosy cafés and treat yourself to South Tyrolean cuisine at the restaurants and traditional inns.

In Merano and vicinity are many hotels with perfect service and fantastic ambience, endeavouring to fulfil all of the guest’s wishes. The famous Hotel Therme Meran and the exclusive Park Hotel Mignon are located in the centre of Merano. Another oasis near the town centre is the venerable Hotel Palace Meran, which meets the most exacting demands.

Relais & Chateau Castel Fragsburg is situated high above Merano and, apart from all other amenities, offers a beautiful view across Merano and Burggrafenamt. The Passeier Valley is home to the Quellenhof Sports and Wellness Resort. Quellenhof is one of the most famous 5-star hotels in the Alps and boasts a hotel-own helipad. Other hotels in the vicinity are La Maiena Meran Resort and Giardino Marling as well as Arosea Life Balance Hotel in St. Walburg in the Ulten Valley. Hotel Chalet Mirabell in Hafling near Merano also offers a hotel-own helipad.

Not far away from Merano, in the municipality of Tirol, is Tyrol Castle which once gave the land its name. The South Tyrolean State Museum for Culture and History has been accommodated here since 2003. Apart from the municipality of Tirol, the valley basin around Merano is also home of other famous places: Lana, Hafling, Marling, Algund and Burgstall. This region, which is also known as Burggrafenamt, is surrounded by the Texel Mountains, the Sarntal Alps and the foothills of the Ortler, South Tyrol’s highest peak measuring 3,905 metres.

An absolute must-do for botany enthusiasts is a visit to the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle near Merano. The areal stretches across 12 hectares and a 7 km long network of paths leads through the beautiful gardens which were opened in 2001. The Sissi Trail leads from Merano to the Botanical Garden. The trail was created in memory of the Austrian Empress Elisabeth.
