The History of ROSSI Winery & Distillery
The moment you step out of the helicopter, it becomes clear that Rossi Winery & Distillery is no mass-production operation. On the contrary, here the family works together as one, guided by a clear principle: quality over quantity. And they have been doing so for several generations. The origins of this family business date back to the 19th century. The Rossi family made winemaking their life’s work and specialized in traditional varieties such as Malvasia and Teran. Always with the goal of passing down their knowledge from generation to generation. Even the political upheavals of the 20th century could not deter the family from their craft. In the 1980s, Marino Rossi took over the winery, marking a turning point toward a modern operation. The focus was now even more on quality rather than quantity. The brand was further expanded, and a distillery was added to the winery’s operations. The production of their own gin as well as traditional Istrian spirits such as Biska and Medica has expanded the family business’s product range. Today, the business is run by the three sons, Luka, Marko, and Filip Rossi. Despite all the changes, the family has remained true to its core values and is now an internationally recognized wine and gourmet brand.
